| Frequently
asked questions
Q: What building
types requires recessed fixture enclosures?
A: Building
construction types where a minimum one-hour fire rating for the
floor/ceiling assembly as detailed in the UL Fire Resistance Directory
are required to install a five-sided gypsum wallboard enclosure
surrounding the recessed fixture when the drywall ceiling is designed
to be part of the fire-rated assembly.
Q:What building
codes require recessed fixture enclosure protection?
A: The
IBC (International Building Code) 2003 states that the "fire-resistance
rating of floor and roof assemblies shall not be less than that
required by the building type of construction. Floor assemblies
separating dwelling units in the same building or sleeping units
in occupancies in Group R-1, hotel dwellings, R-2 and I-1 shall
be a minimum of 1-hour-fire-resistance-rated construction"
Q: Why is
the LiteHouse a better product than a gypsum wallboard enclosure
fabricated on-site?
A: The
LiteHouse is fabricated in a controlled environment using
skilled workers. Each enclosure is built to the specifications unique
to your project. Our finished product passes several quality control
inspections prior to delivery.
Q: How can
the LiteHouse save me time?
A: Our
enclosure arrives on-site when you need it ready to be installed.
We work with you to incorporate the LiteHouse into
your schedule. With site fabricated gypsum wallboard enclosures,
the site subcontractor must adjust his construction schedule to
accommodate fabrication and use his workforce in a less efficient
manner. This causes delays in the installation of the light fixtures
and the overall construction schedule.
Q: How can
the LiteHouse save me money?
A: Specifying
and purchasing the LiteHouse during the bid phase eliminates
on-site material and fabrication costs. The incorporation of our
product allows the LiteHouse to be included in the GMP. This
allows the overall costs of the enclosure to be lower than an enclosure
fabricated on-site.
Q: What is
the lead time for delivery?
A: Orders
of 200 units require a minimum of four weeks from order placement
to on-site delivery. Orders in quantities less than 200 units will
be evaluated individually and incorporated into our production schedule.
